Author and Food Editor Jim Healthy (shown right) made his television debut this past Thursday on the NBC show Good Morning, New Mexico by sharing the Diabetes Healing Snacks, Beverages and Munchies he created in his Test Kitchen at his popular website, MyHealingKitchen.com.
With his co-author of The 30-Day Diabetes Cure, Dr. Stefan Ripich, Jim presented a sampling of the yummy, low-calorie snacks and beverages from his Super Bowl Party Menu now available for free here.
“On Super Bowl Sunday most people with diabetes will fumble their diet and ‘wing it’ (as in high-fat Buffalo wings and blue cheese dip — not to mention the many munchies and snacks that raise their blood sugar),” Jim noted.
“We created these healthful substitutes so people with specific health issue such as diabetes won’t have to feel deprived,” he added.
While each of the 15 items on his Super Bowl Party Menu are ideal for people with Type 1 and 2 diabetes, Jim also made sure they fit the needs and requirements of football fans with heart disease, arthritis, and those watching their weight.
“Every snack and beverage we created is low-calorie and anti-inflammatory,” Jim explained. “They are rich in vitamins, nutrients, and fiber — making them ‘healing’ in every way. And unlike a lot of so-called ‘health food’, they really taste great!”
Jim points out that the average Super Bowl viewer will consume 1,800 extra calories while watching the game. (To burn that off would take walking for 10 hours or jogging for four hours.)
“Our snacks and beverages contain a small fraction of those calories,” he emphasized. “It’s good to know you can satisfy your ‘munchies’ without adding to your weight or upsetting your blood sugar.”

To those of you who doubt that you can reverse your type two diabetes, you absolutely can. I was on Metformin and getting worse. The more I learned about diet and nutrition and worked to lower my insulin resistance, the more I was motivated. My blood sugar returned to normal, I quit the Metformin, and never looked back. This was four years ago. I’m 59 and if I can do it, so can you.
thank you for the comment. i hope this is true about diabetes
What kind of beans were used in the dip?
We used one can of garbanzo beans that were drained. However I do believe that you can use most other types of beans.
