After: Here’s Doug today, 64 pounds (with another 36 pounds to lose) and practically drug-free as a result of The 30-Day Diabetes Cure. Doug’s remarkable weight loss is dramatized by his old trousers. Even more impressive: He didn’t diet or exercise. He simply followed The 30-Day Diabetes Cure and the pounds fell away.

Our motto here at MyHealingKitchen.com is “Food is your best medicine.”  And every week I receive a basketful of letters and emails from readers describing how the power of nutritional healing has turned their health around.

Not long ago I receive a call from a reader filled my eyes with tears — and my heart with joy.

This gentle Mississippi retiree had been though the “medical mill” and was literally at death’s door at the age of 58 because of diabetes and the way conventional medicine treats it today.

The courageous way he transformed his life is an inspiring tale for us all. I’m sharing it with you today in the hope that it motivates you to help someone dear to you.  Or to help yourself.

Doug’s story

Doug Nasur was 18 years old when his doctor told him he had Type 2 diabetes. “He just wrote me a prescription, but never mentioned anything about my diet. So I’d eat a candy bar and take a pill,” Doug told me.

Forty years later — just last December — he was preparing himself to die.  At 306 pounds, Doug had undergone seven eye operations … open-heart surgery … four stents … and suffered from painful diabetic neuropathy in both legs.

Incredibly, he was taking 32 different prescription drugs!

Confined to a wheelchair, he had to brush his teeth sitting down and could only stand in the shower for a few minutes because of excruciating back pain. Each night before bed, he hooked himself up to a TENS machine to keep the overweight-related sleep apnea from stopping his heart.

“I was ready to die.”

That’s when Doug’s brother bought him a copy of The 30-Day Diabetes Cure — and his life suddenly began to change.

Doug began the plan on December 12, 2010 with the help of his wife Debbie, who was skeptical at first.

“She’d seen me try Weight Watchers, Atkins, South Beach, every diet out there — but nothing worked. But she agreed to try The 30-Day Diabetes Cure because she feared for my life. She was also borderline diabetic, and hoped the plan would work for her, too.”

Doug’s results were “amazing,” as he put it. After six months he had lost 56 pounds without dieting or exercise — and had reduced his daily insulin from 280 units to 120.

In December, Doug’s A1C (average blood sugar over 90 days) was a dangerously high 10. Today — just seven months later, it’s 6.4 and no longer within the diabetic range. “My doctor says that if I lose another fifty pounds, I can go off the insulin. And I know I can do that on your plan.”

“If I had this book when I was 18,

I would’ve had a different life.”

Before December 12th, Doug gave his sweet tooth free rein.

“Every day, I bought six doughnuts and split them with my wife. I ate everything you’re not supposed to eat, especially candy … and I drank seven Cokes a day,” he confided to me sheepishly.

“To give you an example of how bad it was, on Halloween my wife bought four bags of candy for the trick-or-treaters … and in one day, I ate two of them all by myself.”

“My doctor told me, ‘Doug, you’re going to die’ and I believed him. I just gave up,” he said with teary eyes.

“I didn’t think there was anything else left for me because I didn’t seem to have the willpower.”

The 30-Day Diabetes Cure works a miracle

“Your plan worked for me because it was different,” Doug explained. It didn’t tell me I had to lose weight or exercise like the others did … and I really liked the food.”

“Every day I just made one little change in my diet, just like your book says.  It wasn’t hard at all.”

“I thought giving up the Cokes was going to be the toughest thing, but I drank iced tea and caffeine-free tea instead. It was no problem.”

“I don’t miss the old food. I used to hate broccoli, but now I dip it in dressing and really love the stuff. I eat broccoli every day … and chicken, pork, bacon and eggs, sweet potato ….”

Doug loses his sweet tooth

“When I hit my 50 pound weight loss, I had a serving of sugar-free custard to celebrate … and I didn’t even like the way it tasted anymore. I told Debbie: ‘This doesn’t even taste good!’”

“I tell every doctor I meet with about your book, and my new numbers, but they don’t seem to care.  They don’t even write down the title. I don’t think they want their patients to get well.”

“I told my heart doctor about my blood sugar counts, and he said, ‘Great,’ and walked out of the room. I wanted to tell him, ‘You could help your patients with this.’”

Doug and Debbie conquer diabetes together

The Nasurs are a great example of how two partners can help each other to change their lives for the better. Debbie’s lost 35 pounds and is no longer prediabetic.

“I got my life back, and I want to live every day to the fullest. I want to live happily and feel good. I want to live as long as I can,” he said, beaming with joy.

“And you know what the best part is? My brother, who bought me the book, is also over 300 pounds. So I sent him a copy of the book and he’s already lost 10 pounds in just two weeks.  Now we get on the phone and pump each other up!”

Who can you help?

Perhaps that’s the most powerful message of all: If there’s someone in your life suffering like Doug was: unhappy … unhealthy … and sinking in the quicksand of a lifetime of detrimental food and lifestyle choices, you can be their savior.
