If I had to pick the single most important supplement for good health and powerful healing, it would be fish oil — hands down.
No other natural compound packs as much “health power” as the omega-3 fatty acids in certain varieties of fish.
Fish oil is well-documented to turn off inflammation in your joints and arteries … moderate blood sugar and insulin … relieve depression … raise HDL cholesterol, while lowering LDL … reduce triglycerides … thin the blood for better circulation … keep blood vessels more flexible for better healthier pressure … and I could go on and on.
The #1 Nutritional Supplement of All Time
It’s such an all-around healer that almost all conventional MDs are telling their patients to take it. (Now that’s progress!)
They’re also beginning to realize that one big reason we suffer from so many medical conditions in this country is because most Americans are seriously deficient in omega-3s. In fact, a 2009 Harvard University study declared that being deficient in omega-3 is now the sixth leading cause of death in the US.
More and more people (and MDs) are learning about the healing power of fish oil — which it why it’s the #1 bestselling nutritional supplement in the world.
But All Fish Oil Brands Don’t Pack a Healing Punch
There’s a huge difference in quality from brand to brand. Because of over-fishing in our oceans, the healing compounds (docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA; and eicosapentaenoic acid, known as EPA) in many fish oil products is a far cry from the strength touted on their labels.
And California recently filed suit against eight popular supplement companies for knowingly marketing fish oil products containing high levels of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) — even though their labels claim the products are free from contamination. (The state may file suit against more manufacturers soon.)
If you can’t trust a product’s label, how can you be sure you’re not getting ripped off (and cheating your health without realizing it)?
There’s really only one way to be really sure (I’ll reveal it in a moment). But there are other problems with nearly all fish oil supplements sold today…
Almost None Are “Ocean-Friendly”
Due to the huge demand for omega-3 fish and fish oil, the oceans are being rapidly depleted. And because there’s some much mercury in the atmosphere from coal emissions, most of the larger varieties of these fish — and their oil — are tainted with mercury and other heavy metals from acid rain.
This has forced fishing companies to go after smaller varieties of omega-3 seafood, such as sardines, anchovies and krill (a tiny shrimp-like creature at the bottom of the ocean food chain that’s especially rich in astaxanthin, the powerful orange-colored antioxidant that gives omega-3 its healing properties and bright hue).
But because these smaller creatures are the main food source for larger fish (whales and dolphins, for instance, feed exclusively on krill), the industrial harvesting of these small varieties are upsetting the ocean’s ecology and depriving entire species of their food supply.
The Whole Foods chain is so concerned about this that they recently pulled krill oil off their shelves and now refuse to sell it. (Krill is the primary food source for whales, penguins and Antarctic seals.)
More problems: Huge fleets targeting anchovies and sardines scrap the ocean bottom, trapping and killing other species in their nets and devastating the flora growing on the seabed.
Squid to the Rescue!
Only one source of fish oil is free from all of these problems: Calamari (squid).
Few people realize that calamari is rich in omega-3 fats. Indeed, their oil is 85% richer in DHA than any other sea creature!
Calamari is not only a better source of fish oil for your health, it’s also better for the health of our oceans because…
No other species are caught — and there is virtually zero “by-catch”
Ocean floors and coral reefs are not touched during harvest
Calamari reproduce at an early age and mature quickly (minimizing mercury-accumulation)
They are primarily harvested by local, small-scale producers (not industrial fleets)
Their oil is produced solely from the trimmings of calamari that feed people.
This last point is important. It means the squid are not harvested for their oil and discarded. Instead, the calamari trimmings (that were once wasted) are now transformed into extraordinarily potent omega-3 oil.
You won’t find a “greener” fish oil source!
A Superior Product in Every Way
All of these reasons prompted my good friend and co-author Dr. Stephen Sinatra to change the formulation of his bestselling
OmegaQ Plus so its fish oil component uses calamari instead of the usual sources.
I applaud him for his “green” decision — and for his ingenious new formulation.
You see, OmegaQ Plus made a huge splash years ago when Dr. Sinatra introduced it because it was the only fish oil to be combined with Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), L-Carnitine, natural vitamin E, plus B-6 and B-12 in one capsule. (This unique formulation was based on Dr. Sinatra’s in-depth research and clinical experience with patients.)
Now with the addition of calamari-based omega-3 oil (exclusively available as Calamarine™), OmegaQ Plus is even better. In fact, it’s the best fish oil product sold today for my money — which is why I take it every day.
Calamari’s short life cycle (under 450 days) reduces the chance for build-up of PCB’s and other toxins that older fish (such as tuna and salmon) experience.
And Calamarine oil is produced by one of the world’s most technologically advanced refineries. Every batch is third-party purity certified by the world’s leading toxicology lab, (Yurofins which is headquartered in Germany).
Calamarine is also “Certified Sustainable” by Friends of the Sea®, a truly rigorous certifier founded in 2006 by Paolo Bray, which helped protect dolphins from corporate tuna fishers.
An Excellent Product — and a Terrific Bargain!
With this new OmegaQ Plus, you get the highest-quality omega-3 oil plus the most absorbable form of CoQ10 available (eight times more absorbable than other forms). That means fewer pills to buy and swallow.
And right now, OmegaQ Plus is being offered at a very special price.
Keep Getting Better,
P.S. Earlier, I mentioned I’d reveal the only way you can be certain that a fish oil product (on any other nutritional supplement) is reliable, instead of being a rip-off…
That’s by sticking with a brand you know and trust.
You see, you can’t always believe what a label says (several investigations have found that many labels lie about the products contents).
And you can’t shop by price. (Many people believe that a higher price indicates a quality product. But marketers realize this and often inflate the price of an inferior product to fool you.)
I’ve known and worked with Dr. Sinatra for more than 10 years. His reputation in the medical community and as a pioneer in nutritional healing is stellar.
There’s no way he’d put his name on any product that didn’t meet the highest standards for quality. His reputation is far too valuable to him.
He personally formulated OmegaQ Plus, recommends it to his patients and readers, plus he and his wife Jan and take it every day.
If he says it’s the best fish oil product you can buy, you can take that to the bank.
(But if you’re the scientific type, check out the studies that support the efficacy of the ingredients in OmegaQ Plus.)
