Ingredients
- 8 ounces unsalted butter
- 12 ounces dark chocolate chips
70 percent dark chocolate improves blood flow. In a University of California study in 2004, dark chocolate consumption was found to improve blood flow by increasing dilation of the brachial artery; and keeping arteries open is key to protecting your heart. Why is chocolate so good at this? Dark chocolate—at least 70% cocoa solids—is rich in flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radical molecules, which if left unchecked damage the linings inside arteries and lead to atherosclerosis and inflammation. DO NOT EAT LARGE QUANTITIES. One square, a few chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings is sufficient. Chocolate is very caloric. Check the nutritional ingredients on the package for excess sugar.
- 1/4 cup Slimtevia
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
A study in the 2006 British Journal of Nutrition demonstrated that regular consumption of chilli for 4 weeks increases the resistance of serum lipoproteins (such as LDL cholesterol) to oxidation. Oxidized lipoproteins cause inflammation of the artery walls and contribute to atherosclerosis.
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

- 5 eggs
In a 2008 study in Nutrition and Metabolism, researchers reviewed the role of eggs in chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a predictor of cardiovascular disease and is directly involved in the promotion of insulin resistance and atherosclerosis. Experimental studies show that the additional dietary cholesterol provided by whole eggs does not increase the risk of CVD in a variety of sample populations Additionally, whole eggs contain the potent antioxidant, lutein, which protects against numerous inflammatory processes. Omega 3-enhanced eggs are widely available. Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to decrease insulin resistance and reduce risk of diabetes.
Strawberry Sauce
- 12 ounces frozen strawberries, thawed
- 1 tablespoon honey
In a 2003 Journal of Food Chemistry study, the consumption of buckwheat honey in water significantly increased the antioxidant capacity determined by the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) test. Foods with a high ORAC score are able to protect cells from oxidative damage that contributes to heart disease.
- 1/2 cup orange juice
Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Lightly grease a pie pan.
3. Melt the butter and chocolate in a double boiler or the microwave for 3-4 minutes, stirring every minute.
4. Remove from the heat, stir in the Slimtevia, cayenne and chili powder. Add the eggs one at a time and mix until smooth.
5. Pour into the greased pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Puree the sauce ingredients in a blender until smooth, and serve over the cake.
